Frequently Asked Questions
WDT stands for Weiss Distribution Technique — a method of stirring coffee grounds with thin needles to break up clumps and ensure even distribution before tamping.
Coffee grinders — even high-end ones — produce clumps due to static and natural oils. WDT breaks these up, resulting in more even extraction, better flavour, and fewer sour or bitter imbalances.
After dosing into the portafilter, insert the WDT tool and rotate it gently through the grounds in a circular motion until the surface is uniform and clump-free. Then level and tamp as usual.
